Body Hair Removal Procedures for Men
Body hair removal is no longer exclusive to women, swimmers, gigolos and body builders. More and more men are now undergoing different procedures and trying different products to remove hair from their body.
The procedures for body hair removal in men are the same as the procedures for removing hair in women. The difference lies mostly in what body part the men choose to hair removed. Women usually have the hair on their face, arm pits, legs and bikini area removed while men often have hair removed from their back, chest, and face.
Here are the more common procedures that men undergo to remove hair from their bodies:
Shaving- shaving involves the use of a razor to remove hair. This process does not remove the hair with the follicles so the hair usually grows back pretty fast. This is the most common process of removing hair. Men usually shave to remove facial hair.
Waxing – waxing involves spreading cold or warm wax onto the area where hair will be removed. Depending on the type of the wax, you can either wait for the wax to harden or use a cloth to pull out the hair. When using a cloth, just flatten the strip of cloth on the wax and wait for it to be slightly dry, when you pull the cloth against the growth of the hair the hair will stick to the wax and come out. This method is often used by men to remove hair room from the back and their genital area.
Electrolysis- In electrolysis, an electronic pulse is used to damage the hair follicle to prevent hair from growing. This method is one of the most effective and permanent ways of removing hair. This procedure is performed by a professional and like laser hair removal involves undergoing a few sessions to be completely effective. The process results in permanent hair loss because the hair roots become permanently damaged preventing hair growth. This process is also used on fine hair that can not be removed by laser.
Depilatories- Depilatories are lotions or creams sold commercially in beauty stores and pharmacies. The chemical in depilatories break down the keratin in the hair. This makes the hair weak enough to easily scrape off. Because the skin also contains keratin, it is important not to leave the depilatory on too long. The packages of depilatories contain instructions on how long they must be left on. The effect of the depilatories can last between one to two weeks. One advantage of using depilatories is that they are very affordable and easily available.
Plucking- Plucking is more common for women than men because it takes time and it can be painful. This is usually done with stray eyebrow hairs or other coarse hair.
