Common Methods of Pubic Hair Removal

Shaving is the most common type of hair removal method used for not only pubic hair removal but for body hair removal in general. Waxing is a close second while electrolysis and other laser treatments are also used but on very frequent instances as they are more expensive besides being less popular.

Shaving is the most popular and common approach to pubic hair removal mainly because it's cheap and painless. For pubic hair removal through shaving, you can use a wet blade razor or an electric shaver. A straight razor is not recommended because of its high risks and danger.

Make sure that you trim the pubic hair first before shaving it since long ones will only clog and dull the blade. A dull blade will only leave you with a disgusting rash. In using a razor, choose one that is safe, sharp and brand new. Avoid disposable or single blade razors because it will only leave you scarred and irritated especially once the hair grows
back. An electric razor should be waterproof to avoid any accidents from happening.

Before starting to shave, showering will soften the skin enough to make it easier to remove. Apply some shaving foam before to make sure it doesn't sting afterwards. Shave areas repeatedly since pubic hair is curly and grows in different directions. Apply some moisturizer after shaving to soothe the skin.

Since shaving lasts for only a few days, it is important to regularly do it to avoid itchiness in the pubic region. Also, an important reminder is to make sure that you are in a stable state of mind before shaving. Being drunk or high from drugs will only lead to tragedy.  If you plan on waxing your pubic, be prepared to feel some pain. First, start by trimming
the hair short to avoid wasting waxing strips and prevent you from going through an excruciating ordeal. If you want to be pain free, apply some anesthetic cream on the pubic region about 30 to 60 minutes before waxing.

Unlike shaving, showering or softening up the pubic hair isn't good for waxing. Waxing is more effective if the hair is dry and hard. So make sure you dry yourself completely after washing the area before you start waxing. Wet hair will only prevent the waxing strip from attaching to it.

If shaving isn't hard enough, well waxing would require a lot of flexibility since you wouldn't want to leave the parts below your genitals hairy compared to the waxed part.  After you apply the wax on the pubic hair, place the waxing strip on top and quickly peel it against the hair growth direction.

Another option is to have a professional do it from a spa or salon. This way, you are certain that the hairs are removed from the roots and it is done in an efficient manner, although at a painful one. Also, you won't pain yourself in difficult positions to wax those hard to reach areas. Since this option may be a bit pricey, you can always do it  yourself at home.

After waxing, your pubic region will swell and hurt so avoid tight underwear for about 2-3 days to avoid irritation and ingrown hairs.

Hair creams and electrolysis aren't as popular as shaving and waxing because of their negative effects. Hair creams cause a lot of irritation and allergic reactions since these are usually made for the legs or underarms. Electrolysis can last for a few months but it is very expensive, up to a few thousand dollars, for a small area of your body. Shaving or
waxing can give you nearly the same results with fewer risks.
